My Dad started his own Landscaping Business in 1975. The business operated from our family home in Norton. We had a small holding with barns and yard space where he kept his tools and kit and had a small workshop. From the moment I could walk I was out in the yard exploring, playing and helping my Dad. From a young age I can recall spending many weekends helping him on site and relishing the opportunity to get involved and get outside.
After leaving school I continued to work for the family business, but at 23 I decided I wanted to get some more training and experience and went to work with a much larger landscaping firm. There I learnt a lot of different skills and techniques, and quickly worked my way up to become a foreman.
I quickly became disenchanted working for a bigger company though. I became frustrated that I couldn’t always take the time and care that I felt was need to offer a truly bespoke service to each client. I believed, and still do to this day, that a smaller business can offer a much better quality of service and finished product and so in 2007 I started James Yates Garden Solutions and haven’t looked back.
Since then I have grown the business from working on my own to operating a two man team, me and one other. I take pride in offering the best service and achieving the highest possible finish on all gardens and projects that I work on. My customers are always happy to recommend me to family and friends and I have a lot of repeat business from some very satisfied clients.
